France lauds initialing Skhirat agreement by Libyan parties

Paris – France lauded the initialing by the Libyan parties, on Saturday, of the Skhirat agreement, adding that this accord is the outcome of several months of UN-brokered talks.“We laud the work done by UNSG special representative Bernardino Leon and thank Morocco for hosting these talks,” said French foreign minister Laurent Fabius in a statement on Sunday.The Libyan parties have a historic responsibility, he said, noting that this agreement will open a new page in the history of Libya. France is ready to support Libya and Libyan people to implement this agreement in coordination with all its partners, said the statement.The Libyan parties to the conflict initialed, on Saturday in Skhirat, this agreement to solve the Libyan crisis which has been running for over 3 years.The signing ceremony was attended by foreign minister Salaheddine Mezouar, and speakers of the houses of representatives and of advisors, Rachid Talbi Alami and Mohamed Sheikh Biadillah respectively.
